I miss the late 70s ... ( 3 weeks ago by godsholywoman)
I miss the late 70s as a toddler, the 80s as a child and preteen, and the early 90s as a teenager. Those were the times when black folks were more classier and conscious. Nowadays, I'm ashame of being black by the way we're acting. I mean, look at how we as a people are acting in the media. I hate rap of today. That's why I either listen to gospel or old school music. Black people of today are making me as a black woman look bad. LORD PLEASE BRING BACK THE 80s AND EARLY 90s!!!!!!!

you should never be shame of being black, but i do understand how some people can make a entire race feel a sense of shame.
I know. I mean ... ( 3 weeks ago by godsholywoman)
I know. I mean look at hip hop today. Look at these black music videos. Songs like "Soulja Boy, Superman" or whatever that song is. Back in the 80s and early 90s, music was worth listening to and black folks had class. Now, we're acting too ghetto and stereotypical. I love the 80s. I'm so blessed that I grew up in that decade as a child and preteen.

I miss the 80's too. I can't decide if it's a pure nostalgia factor or if they really were better times but I reciprocate that feeling of "what have we become?" I guess everyone goes through that, right? I am, however, getting to the point where I feel like I need a cane to express my point of view! LOL!
One point for the future though; Youtube. Bringing all the memories flooding back, even commercials! ;)

I know. That's what I like about YouTube. They have retro videos from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

that wacky wall walker looked like one of those things id really want as a kid. Even if I hated the cereal, if the prize inside was good enough, id suffer through about 3 weeks of being fed the cereal i didnt like!
Those wacky wall ... ( 2 weeks ago by binarydreamz)
Those wacky wall walkers were AWESOME, i had a ton, and all you had to do was run them under water to get all the dirt/hair off them then let em dry then throw them back at the wall, glass/mirrors worked better than walls though.

The 80's were a great time to be young.
Those were the days. Saturday morning cartoons and brightly colored toxic cereal.
I need a time machine.

The Days...I was only a little kid when these commercials were playing..The ones today have no imagination...Unless downloading is imaginative
Yep. The music was ... ( 2 weeks ago by soundsfromnothing)
Yep. The music was more original. Alternative hadn't turned into whiney pop-crap (ala 3rd eye blind) yet. There was still skill in hip hop (up until '96 or so). Everything seemed to die in 96! Cartoons in the 90's stunk too (Especially starting around '90/'91-with the Eco-friendly/overly sappy morality cartoons. No wonder kids nowadays like the same toons their patents watched!
I know. The music ... ( 2 weeks ago by godsholywoman)
I know. The music culture died in the mid 90s. I'm glad I was out of high school then. I feel sorry for the children that have to grow up like this now.
Me too. Imagination ... ( 2 weeks ago by soundsfromnothing)
Me too. Imagination has gone straight out the window. Not only that, but everything is so p.c. now, that parents can't discipline their kids. We are worried about what children watch in THEIR shows, while regular tv gets racier & racier. We've sterilized ourselves so much, that its causing problems in everyday life for every1! We definitely need a renaissance.

The 80's had to be the best decade of the 20th century, the worst being the 90's.

I really want to go back to the 80s! The times were better, unlike right now! I REALLY need a Time Machine!

God, I just yearn for those days when I first watched this vid! Simpler times, too. No annoying cellphones, X boxes, all that dehumanizing crap of today. Back then, you hung out with friends, hit the movies Saturday nights, socialized more person-to-person (without a goddamn cellphone going off!!),TV was excellent, the music was the best and people mingled more & were MUCH different, active and brighter than the mindless vegetables and increasingly-obesse automatons of nowadays.

I risk sounding silly but watching these postings of my childish T'V memories makes me want to cry. I begin remembering my siblings and my mother. I guess I'M just a sentimental fool. Those were happier times for me.

Oh god,
speaking of old ads:
I have two that I wonder how many people here remember:
"Does she? Or doesn't she? Only her hairdresser knows for sure."
AND:
"It's so clean, I can see myself in it!" "And Isn't that a good reflection on you?"
